Frontenac Municipal Services needed a comprehensive website to serve as an educational hub for residents, providing critical information about water and wastewater services. The primary goal was to create a resource that was not only informative but also easy for multiple contributors to manage. They came to the project with a fantastic logo and brand guide, which helped set the tone and direct the feel of the website.

The Objective
The primary objective was to build a website that effectively communicated technical information about shared municipal services to three different audiences. This was also to be coupled with a look and feel that was more engaging than the standard municipal web design and structure.
The site needed to be user-friendly, secure, and built to support future expansion. The organization had only a few pages of public-facing content, and I needed to help them establish a content structure that was easy for people find relevant information and help educate them on the new concept of shared municipal services.
The Solution
I partnered with Frontenac Municipal Services to design and develop a robust, custom website using WordPress. This platform was chosen for its flexibility and scalability, allowing for multiple content contributors and a smooth experience for both the client and site visitors.
Content Strategy and Development
With limited initial public content, I helped the client establish a content structure that made it easy for visitors to find the most relevant information. I worked to develop content that would introduce the concept of shared municipal services and guide users through key information.
Leveraging Existing Brand Identity
The client provided a fantastic logo and brand guide, which gave a clear direction for the website's feel. I focused on creating a design that was in line with their brand and that they would be excited to showcase. The final design successfully balanced visuals and fast page load times.
Accessibility
The website was developed with WCAG 2.0 AA Accessibility Standards and included features to enhance user accessibility.
Empowering the Client
A key part of the project was empowering the Frontenac team to manage their own content. I provided custom training videos and a live training session to ensure they were comfortable with tasks such as adding pages, updating content, and managing the staff directory.
Scalability and Future-Proofing
The website was built on a foundation that allows for future expansion, including the potential to add features like an on-site search, staff directories, and the ability to connect with third-party services
The Results
The website is now both an educational hub for the community and an easy-to-manage platform for the Frontenac team.
