Milton Heights Racing Club

The aging MHRC website had become difficult to manage but had core elements that needed to be kept, this included hundreds of posts, classified ads and registered users.

The user and post data was successfully migrated into a new WordPress installation allowing an overhaul of the website navigation and design. The new website design is intuitive, easy to navigate, easy to update. Club members have been thrilled with the clean layout and how easy it is to find important program information.

In addition, an events calendar and WooCommerce were integrated so that products can be sold right on the website. A grandfathered integration between the blog and MailChimp was also successfully migrated.

Website Design & Development

A complete overhaul of the website resulted in a mobile friendly, WCAG Accessibility Compliant website that makes it easy for visitors to find what they're looking for.

The original website users were successfully migrated. During the migration, we discovered that the old website was using not optimizing images. A new function was added to automatically resize image during upload so the website would not longer grow uncontrollably in size.

Staff now manage all of the website content internally.

Classifieds

Registered users are able to post and sell their items using the classifieds section once they create a login. Website administrators have the ability to manage users, moderate posts and manage categories.

Blog

The blog is a key component in sharing news and event updates with parents for MHRC. The blog had been linked to Mailchimp, automatically emailing subscribed parents important updates. This is a grandfathered feature that was successfully migrated to the new website.

The blog is where many of the large images resided. During the rebuild, all of the existing images were compressed and optimized, with a plugin configured to automatically resize such large uploads in the future.
